I went to Sakuracon this weekend (Anime convention in Seattle, Washington.)

It was soo, sooo fun.

My friend came over from California to go to the con, and we got there at 1 PM on Friday....and spent the next 5 hours waiting in line for our admission badges. My sister and I had preregistered so it took use about 2.5 hours, but alranth wasn't and had to wait in the registration line. =__=; It was grueling, and our feet hurt like hell afterwards. My DS ran out of batteries halfway and I had to find an outlet. Pictochat was really the only interesting thing to do, and it was so annoying whenever some random troll came in and started drawing penises. It would've been nice if the DS had user tracking functions so I could've given them a kick in the shins.

Once we FINALLY got out of the line, we wandered around the artist's alley for a bit. There was some really nice art, and I seized an amazing polymer clay figurine of a TWEWY character. I don't even play TWEWY, but the figurines were just so well done I had to get SOMETHING. It's sitting on my clay desk right now as an inspiration.

We (Me, alranth, my sis, my friend , and her two friends) rested in our hotel room for a while then headed out for dinner. Waiting in line for hours on end can make one really hungry. My sis, alranth, and I opted to eat the overpriced hotel restaurant. The food was quite good, but looking back at it eating anything at the time was a bad, bad idea. Right afterwards we headed to the Fuzzy Fuzz Ball, the first dance of the con.

Dancing + haven just eaten = stomach OWWIIIIIEEE.

It was pretty fun, though. I think I'm finally able to dance rudimentarily, instead of pathetically standing and feeling horribly self-conscious. Feeling the bass rattle through your lungs is an awesome experience. Glow sticks are awesome too. Next year I have to buy a few beforehand. And the strange fingerlights I got from DX. And invisible ink. And...MONEYYYY.

I forgot to bring money to the con. =______= I ended up borrowing so much from my sis, blecchh. My had a test on Friday morning so my con-planning was totally shot.

So anyways, we went back to the hotel at around uh.... 12:30 AM? I don't remember. What I do remember was watching Moyashimon on alranth's computer till wayyyy early. THEY ARE SO CUTE. OMG. OMG. "Tadayasuuuuu!"

Having gorged myself on images of cute microbes, I found myself locked out of my own hotel room at 3 AM, cuz alranth and my sis were sharing a room and miasmamelody and I were sharing one. We were originally going to have a 4-person room, but for some reason it got split. At least they were next to each other, but there was no connecting door. Anyways, I had to knock on the door till miasmamelody woke up and removed the door bar. Sorry!

The next day we got breakfast at Taco Del Mar, where I apparently looked very cute eating my oversized, monstrous burrito while wearing my apple hat (my "costume" was my apple hat, a devil slime from Maplestory which NO ONE recognized, and cute-ish asian clothes). OOOKKK. I ate half of it and then wrapped it up elaborately for further consumption. This trusty burrito would last me the whole day, lmao.

After that we checked out of the hotel (only 1 night, should've gotten Sat night too) we went to the exhibition hall for the first time. There was a huge selection of plushie hats, t-shirts, manda, keychains... The only thing I got was a tiny Moyashimon yeast keychain though. Cutecutecuuuuute.

Thennn we went to a panel on beginner's Adobe Illustrator usage. It was really helpful, and the speaking (apparently the artist behind the webcomic "Real Life", which I've never read) was really funny. Sadly, the dim lights nearly knocked me out for the second half of the panel. >__>; Oh, and before the panel began, a lolsome event happened. Some dude dressed as Link had left his camera on a seat when he changed to a different seat, and when I returned it he went "THANK YOU I LURVE YOUUUU" and hugged me. .___. This kind of behavior is probably standard-issue at a con, but for me it was just hella awkward.

After that I think we went back to the Exhibition Hall. I don't really remember. We got dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, splitting a Shepherd's Pie and an appetizer amongst the three of us. One lesson you learn early on at the Cheesecake Factory is to never, ever have a 1/1 person to dish ratio. You will NEVER finish it. That be the truth.

Then we tried to get to a sewing basics for cosplay panel (since I can't make clothes worth a crap) but the room was jampacked. We played Stepmania on alranth's laptop instead. The interface looks cooler than the console DDR games. I so have to get a usb DDR pad now. Then we went to watch a fansubbed Tales from Earthsea, which was mediocre. So many wtf moments and dangling, unresolved plotlines. And the evil sorcerer was TOTALLY A FEMALE, DAMMIT. Looked like a woman, talked like a woman... Really an old man.

And then it was the Starship Sakura dance! And it was fun, except for the part where we had to leave at 11:30 and the alranth and I nearly got ourselves locked in a zombie infested stairwell while trying to reach the hotel to get our checked luggage. Omgaw.

And then alranth had to go leave back to Cali before I could remember to give her a plushie. Damn. I remember waking up in the morning, trying feebly to say goodbye, and failing horribly by keeling back asleep. Lame.

All in all, it was a pretty sweet weekend, except for the part where I'm doing all my math homework on Sunday.
