Should I branch out to Ebay?

There's been a guy on ebay selling decent handmade Maple Weapons necklaces for YEARS, to the tune of $15 +$5 shipping. I reckon that if Nexon hasn't moved against him, then they're lenient on fan crafts.

I'm thinking of putting batches of maple keychains up for sale, but...

What I'm worried about is someone on Basil finding my auction, alerting the piranhas back home, and a feeding frenzy beginning.

Which would not be pleasant.

I think you should go for it. Everyone knows eBay, and I'd never even heard of Etsy before I saw your shop. You'd definitely be reaching out to more potential customers.

I'm rather scared of Basil's mob mentality though. Last time I tried to sell someone via dA and linked it to Basil not knowing what awaited me, I got 2k pageviews in 2 hours, a 20+ page long thread on whether I was breaking copyright, and some lambasting comments.

That said, I've successfully sold a plushie on Ebay by keeping it low key.

That's true, Basil can get pretty hectic.
But I'm sure that if at first they freak out about it or whatever, they'll probably tire of it pretty quickly and move on to some other thing.
Keeping your store in just Etsy wouldn't be so bad either, as long as you continue advertising it consistently on deviantART. c:

I think you should.

A lot of people sell less than legal items when it comes to copyrights. Bootlegs alone!

Wow! I want to see these necklaces, haha.

But I don't know, eBay.. well, you would be reaching a lot more people, and if that guys been safe for so long, you should be too. n_n;

and I should post my weapons on Basil, I might get tons of pageviews.. if only i knew how to post on basil. ><

search "maplestory necklace" on ebay, it should show up. They're quite nicely made, though I dunno if they're worth $20 total since shipping honestly costs only $1.50ish for any location in US.

Yeah, I'll give it a try, though I'm not sure what to sell. A 2 pack of mushroom and slime? Or like my etsy, where everything is sold separately and I combine shipping?

Well, Basil is rather flip-floppish on allowing people to link back to their dAs. URLS are usually stripped from images and image descriptions once you submit, though sometimes they do get through.

True!

I remember buying a set of One Piece DVDs and when they came found out they were bootleg copies. But they worked and it was $10 for 3, so whatever. Lol.

Yeah ^__^;;

I wonder what Ebay's policy on linking out is, I could put up a few surreptitious auctions that mention my etsy and hope buyers move there.
